Tethered or untethered
A tethered charger has its own cable attached, ready to plug in. An untethered one has a socket, so you use your car’s cable and the wall unit looks tidier.

Do I need off-street parking for a home charger?
Usually, yes. A home charger is fixed to your house or garage and the cable has to reach the car without crossing a pavement, so you’ll need a driveway, garage or other private parking space.
Do home EV chargers have to be smart chargers?
Yes. Since June 2022, new home chargers installed in Great Britain have to be smart chargers by law. That means you can schedule charging for cheaper off-peak hours using the charger’s app.
Can you fit a Tesla Wall Connector?
Yes. We supply and fit the Tesla Wall Connector, and it works with other electric cars as well as Teslas. We also supply and fit other major charger brands.
Is there a grant for a home EV charger?
If you rent your home or own a flat, you may be able to get a government grant towards a chargepoint. The rules change from time to time, so check the current scheme on GOV.UK before you book.
